Early morning and it's clear here... but out in the bay a heavy fog looms.

As the race officials waited for the fog to burn off (it didn't), they delayed the start of the race with speeches...

and still more speaking.

And the fog never lifted in time for the Alcatraz route; so we had to share the Angel Island route with the speed racers, who left us in the dust.
