Our trip initiator, Kathy, leads introductions all around.

Mud swallows emerge from under the Little Potato Slough (Hwy 12) bridge. This bridge, built in 1991, replaced the original bridge built in 1936 and was much lower to the water. In 1995, this bridge ceased routine scheduled summer operation and became an "on demand" only bridge, requiring 4 hours notice to the Coast Guard to get it to swing open.
